Programming Car2U® to Genie ® Garage Door Openers Helpful Tips Click here to download the PDF version of the Car2U programming instructions, or follow below To Get Started: Setting the Car2U to Factory Default settings The default setting for the Car2U system is: Button 1= Genie Manufactured Openers Button 2= LiftMaster® Manufactured Openers Button 3= Wayne Dalton® Manufactured Openers Press and hold buttons 1 and 3 for twenty seconds or until all three LED’s begin to flash. Release both buttons. The Car2U system is now set to the Factory Default settings. To Change One of the Other Manufacturer’s Buttons to Genie Press and hold buttons 1 and 3 for one second and release– all three LEDs will light solid RED. Press and hold the button (2 or 3) you want to change to Genie – the corresponding LED will flash. While continuing to hold the button you want to change, press, and release button 1. Press and release button 1 again. Release the button you were holding in step 2 and wait for the LED to stop flashing. This button is now set for Genie. Note: If needed, repeat this procedure for the remaining button to change to Genie Car2U® System Programming for older Genie Models: Follow these steps if you have an older model Genie with a single learn code button like one of these below, if you have a newer model with a square program/set button skip farther down the page to the section for newer models . Press and release the learn code button - the red LED will begin to blink. Press the desired Car2U button one time. The red LED will stop blinking and stay on. Press the desired Car2U button one more time. The red LED will go out. Pressing the Car2U button again will cause the garage door to move. NOTE: If you cannot find your program button on the powerhead, see the user manual for your opener Car2U® System Programming for newer Genie Models: NewModel Car2U The steps below have a slight difference based on the date your garage door opener was manufactured. There are steps for programming Car2U based on when your garage door opener was manufactured. If your serial number has the first 5 digits of 11290 or smaller then your model was made prior to November 2011 . If your serial number has the first 5 digits of 11291 or higher then your model was made after November 2011 . Follow the appropriate instructions below. Car2U® System Programming for newer Genie Models manufactured after November 2011: Press and hold the program button until the round blue LED is on – release the button. The long LED will flash purple. Press the desired Car2U button for one second and release it. Press that same button again for one second and release. The round LED and long LED will both turn blue and then turn off. Pressing the Car2U button again will cause the garage door to move. NOTE: If you cannot find your program button on the powerhead, see the user manual After 2011 Car2U® System Programming for newer Genie Models manufactured before November 2011: Press and hold the program button until the round blue LED and the long blue LED are on – release the button. The round blue LED will be on. Press the program button once - the long purple LED will begin flashing. Press the desired Car2U button for one second and release it. Press that same button again for one second and release. The long LED will flash blue and then turn off. Pressing the Car2U button again will cause the garage door to move. GCL is a comprehensive line of commercial door operators that are reliable and easy to install. The product line was developed from a proven series of commercial operators. GCL is grouped into categories based on duty cycle: Light Duty (< 4 cycles/hour) Medium Duty (15 cycles/hour, < 50 cycles /day) Standard Duty (25 cycles/hour, < 100 cycles/day) Heavy Duty (60 cycles/hour, > 100 cycles/day) What are the models? Units come either single-phase or three-phase and then can be configured for a specific voltage when they are installed. EZ Limit®: Provides for push to set limits directly from the LCD set-up menus. Move the door to where you want it and hit the button to set that limit. DC Disc Brake with Progressive Braking: Adjustable braking rate set via the LCD allows for the door to come to a smooth stop. Advanced Receiver: Set up is done via the LCD display. Learn transmitters, get unique ID# assigned to each, and have the ability to delete individual transmitter ID's by using the display. Once a transmitter is learned, every time it activates the door the ID # will be displayed and logged. What are the advantages of on-board 16-character LCD backlit display for calibration and diagnostics? The LCD display allows easy set up and diagnostics. It includes a calibrate/run mode, scroll up/down, set/clear and open/close/stop controls all on-board, simple to understand and use. The Genie Commercial Line of operators are UL 325-2010 Listed for Commercial applications. This requires the use of a UL-approved (for Genie Commercial) monitored entrapment device to allow the operator close mode to be selected for momentary contact if desired. (N4 & N4X environmentally modified operators and TENV & TEFC motor modified operators are not UL-Listed) What is the warranty for the Genie Commercial Line? All Genie Commercial Line operators have a 2-year or 20,000-cycle limited warranty. There are two optional boards available: The "timer close" optional board connects to the main board via a plug and play connector. In order to set the main delay time just enter the calibration mode from the keypad and digitally set the exact amount of time desired. (Not available on the GCL Fire Door Operator). The "auxiliary output" board also connects to the main board via a plug and play connector. This board provides dry relay contact outputs at the limits and a five-minute lamp contact. TensiBelt® unique belt system on the medium and standard duty models that never needs adjustment. Can the installation orientation of the GCL-J/H or GCL-GH operator be modified? Yes, they can be mounted right side up or upside down, and easily configured using the LCD display for the proper direction. If flipping the operator, note the hoist cannot be switched for the GCL-H, but can be switched for the GCL-GH. How many monitored photoeye sensing devices can be installed on a Genie Commercial Operator? Only one monitored photoeye can be installed at a time; however, a normally-open, non-monitored photoeye can also be installed in conjunction with the monitored photoeye. Please refer to the accessories in the catalog for the monitored and non-monitored photoeyes available. A monitored photoeye and monitored safety edge can be installed on the same operator. This will require that the monitored edge is wired to the optional timer close board. (P/N: OPABTCGX.s) Is the Genie Commercial Line difficult to wire and program? Not at all. Genie Commercial Line has very straight-forward control circuit wiring. This wiring is identical on all models. If you wire one model, you can wire all the models.
