Pre-1993 Openers
In 1992, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) implemented new regulations requiring all garage door openers manufactured after that year to have external entrapment protection devices, such as infrared sensors or sensing edges, in addition to the internal contact reverse mechanism.
Unattended Operation
Wall controls for garage door openers must be placed at least 5 feet above the floor to reduce the risk of children becoming trapped under the garage door. This warning label is included inside all of our owner's manuals and should be placed on the wall, as many home inspectors require.
