Programming Car2U® to Genie ® Garage Door Openers Helpful Tips Click here to download the PDF version of the Car2U programming instructions, or follow below To Get Started: Setting the Car2U to Factory Default settings The default setting for the Car2U system is: Button 1= Genie Manufactured Openers Button 2= LiftMaster® Manufactured Openers Button 3= Wayne Dalton® Manufactured Openers Press and hold buttons 1 and 3 for twenty seconds or until all three LED’s begin to flash. Release both buttons. The Car2U system is now set to the Factory Default settings. To Change One of the Other Manufacturer’s Buttons to Genie Press and hold buttons 1 and 3 for one second and release– all three LEDs will light solid RED. Press and hold the button (2 or 3) you want to change to Genie – the corresponding LED will flash. While continuing to hold the button you want to change, press, and release button 1. Press and release button 1 again. Release the button you were holding in step 2 and wait for the LED to stop flashing. This button is now set for Genie. Note: If needed, repeat this procedure for the remaining button to change to Genie Car2U® System Programming for older Genie Models: Follow these steps if you have an older model Genie with a single learn code button like one of these below, if you have a newer model with a square program/set button skip farther down the page to the section for newer models . Press and release the learn code button - the red LED will begin to blink. Press the desired Car2U button one time. The red LED will stop blinking and stay on. Press the desired Car2U button one more time. The red LED will go out. Pressing the Car2U button again will cause the garage door to move. NOTE: If you cannot find your program button on the powerhead, see the user manual for your opener Car2U® System Programming for newer Genie Models: NewModel Car2U The steps below have a slight difference based on the date your garage door opener was manufactured. There are steps for programming Car2U based on when your garage door opener was manufactured. If your serial number has the first 5 digits of 11290 or smaller then your model was made prior to November 2011 . If your serial number has the first 5 digits of 11291 or higher then your model was made after November 2011 . Follow the appropriate instructions below. Car2U® System Programming for newer Genie Models manufactured after November 2011: Press and hold the program button until the round blue LED is on – release the button. The long LED will flash purple. Press the desired Car2U button for one second and release it. Press that same button again for one second and release. The round LED and long LED will both turn blue and then turn off. Pressing the Car2U button again will cause the garage door to move. NOTE: If you cannot find your program button on the powerhead, see the user manual After 2011 Car2U® System Programming for newer Genie Models manufactured before November 2011: Press and hold the program button until the round blue LED and the long blue LED are on – release the button. The round blue LED will be on. Press the program button once - the long purple LED will begin flashing. Press the desired Car2U button for one second and release it. Press that same button again for one second and release. The long LED will flash blue and then turn off. Pressing the Car2U button again will cause the garage door to move. NOTE: If you cannot find your program button on the powerhead, see the user manual Before 2011
